I have had some awful experiences with United Airlines, like having my bags lost on a non-stop flight, unclean planes, or being forced to zigzag across the United States to reach my final destination due to a missed connection. I am sure I'm not the only Mileage Plus member asking, "Why do I continue to fly with United Airlines?" Well, United announced this week another reason why you shouldn't fly with them: a $25 fee for checking a second suitcase. All (non-refundable) economy passengers flying domestically will have to limit themselves to one bag under 50 lbs before the charge kicks in, but Premier and 1K (or any elite Star Alliance members) will still be allowed to check two bags free of charge. International baggage policies remain the same. Passengers who purchased tickets before 4 February 2008 and will travel by 5 May 2008, will still be able to check two bags free of charge.
